Should water be considered a basic human right, or should corporations own the water we drink and determine who is allowed to drink it? Back in 2013, Nestle’s former CEO and current Chairman went on record in saying that water should in fact be privatized — owned entirely by corporations like Nestle.
In his message, which also includes immense praises towards Monsanto for their GMOs and how truly ‘safe’ they are, Nestle Chairman Peter Brabeck-Letmathe heavily pushes the idea that corporations should be in control of the world’s water supply.
Checkout the video below where Brabeck-Letmathe even compares the initiative of privatizing all water to Monsanto’s GMOs (great PR move there):
A disturbing thought when we just scratch the surface of Nestle’s past, which includes hiring teams of ‘internet warriors’ to troll comments and website reviews for any organization that attempts to mention these issues (you might expect some in the comments below).
According to Corporate Watch, Nestle and former CEO Peter Brabeck-Letmathe have a long past of sacrificing health and the environment in order to take part in the profit of an astounding $35 billion in annual revenue from water bottle sales alone.
The report states:
“Nestlé production of mineral water involves the abuse of vulnerable water resources. In the Serra da Mantiqueira region of Brazil, home to the “circuit of waters” park whose groundwater has a high mineral content and medicinal properties, over-pumping has resulted in depletion and long-term damage.”
Nestle has even been blasted over the reported use of ‘slavery rings’ to culminate their water business, another Corporate Watch entry details:
“In 2001, Nestlé faced criticism for buying cocoa from the Ivory Coast and Ghana, which may have been produced using child slaves.[58] According to an investigative report by the BBC, hundreds of thousands of children in Mali, Burkina Faso and Togo were being purchased from their destitute parents and shipped to the Ivory Coast, to be sold as slaves to cocoa farms.”
Has Nestle’s CEO changed his mind on the global privatization of water? Perhaps looking at Monsanto, one of the most hated companies in the world, may help change his mind. Certainly comparing the initiative to Monsanto’s practices is not among the best of ideas for public acceptance.
Quit buying anything nestle once I saw an arrogant video of said CEO. Probably 3 years ago or more. So see these b*stards for what they really are.
Thanks for pointing out this outrage. At least you have that.
But part of the problem is the slow abandonment, over time, of the knowledge of true fallen Human Nature given to us in the scriptures, and verified by 5000 years of recorded human history. We prefer to believe that man, given all the power and opportunity he wants and left to himself, will eventually choose the good, selfless, and loving course of action. The actions of people like this guy and Mr. Grant, CEO of Monsanto, should reinforce the idea that we all have a nature that tends away from God, Who is Love, and towards evil, which God must then deal with by means of His justice.
There are even many throughout history who hide behind the cloak of supposed representation of God, and use that as their power to choose, once again, evil. Weak-minded college professors always point that one out as their condemnation of Christianity ( never Islam ) even though any practitioners of evil in God’s name are by definition charlatans and once again prove the fallen nature of Man.
Even the Constitution of the U.S. is based upon this proper notion that we all tend to evil and collectively recognize that, so that we can unabashedly purge it when it erupts in the public realm.
Because we, as a society, want desperately to believe we are “good” without any need for intervention from the Holy Spirit, we are ending up, as a society, powerless to morally oppose open and wanton evil such as espoused by Mr. Lemathe, to any significant degree. It’s the same reason we can’t get up much collective care about government corruption or the rule of law. We are conflicted. We can call what a CEO does “evil”, but can’t summon the social wherewithal of enough numbers to make him a giant pariah and drive him out of influence. To do that in great enough numbers we have to admit that we as a society promote big important people to important celebrity status with no regard to their humility, loving heart towards all, spirituality, respect for human life, sense of just-ness, overcoming of being a respecter of persons, wisdom, and many other regenerate qualities. We aren’t going to admit that glaring fault, i.e., of who we promote to be our social leaders. Instead, we can’t argue against their prominence because we really want to believe we are “pretty smart”, and lean towards “being good” if given the opportunity, and the “smartest” and “goodest” of us get to the top. Then, when something like this guy happens, we are devoid of moral basis because we have only our own relativistic morality to apply, and it is short-circuited here. Why should this guy care about who has an inherent right to water, if there is no God Who holds all to account ? The same truth applies to jihad-based mass killings, emotional abandonment of little children, euthanasia, or any other uncomfortable evil practice. We no longer have a common rally-point of opposition from a moral standpoint. It is what it is, and it is our collective fault. Be mad at me if you want to.
Biting off more than can be chewed? Can’t get to the CEO source directly? Come down on those who work for him – all the way down to the one cleaning the toilets. The CEOs will eventually get the message and will continually step over moral boundaries, as it is all they know. Time to stop being pansies, I guess. Just be there for those who step out AGAINST their masters, or they will go right back to them.
Here in Arkansas City, Ks., Nestle is a customer of an aseptic bottling company named Kan-pak, (which also owns a branch in Mexico and one in China) recently bought out by Golden State Foods of California. I believe they are around a $5-6 BILLION in annual sales. Here they only employ a couple hundred, but our town is located where the Arkansas River meets the Walnut River, and word is they are redoing the plant to accommodate a second bottle line machine! The town has about 15,000 citizens, pulls it’s water from an aquifer (oogalah or something like that), and the city is beginning to build a new multi-million dollar water plant (which we, the citizen’s will fund no doubt). The local commission is also beginning to annex island locations within the city limits, which most likely will include areas located in an industrial park on the edge of town. The local commission, or more accurately TPTB (owners of the land) have been pushing for a TIF(tax increment finance) district, and while I am a nobody, with no proof, the inclination is that Kan-pak, or GSF, will push to develop a large warehouse/ingredient storage facility on this land. The current bottling plant is located on the opposite end of town, and since the take over by GSF a yr. or so ago, they have invested a large amount of money in the onsite waste treatment plant, (along with the interior mentioned above).
The local environmental director, a freemason, has declared in the past that the last war will be waged over water, that people will pay more for water than oil! This community is a nest of freemason’s and shriners, they have been the mainstay of an annual fall festival parade (called Arkalalah held for like 80 yrs).
My gut feeling is that all of this will be to retain and expand contracts with the devil’s firm Nestle. And what really burns my butt is that all of this will most likely be done without the corporations even having to pay any taxes. The vast majority of the management level lives outside city limits or in another community north about 10 miles. They have no respect for anything but profit. The local commissions, one of them an independently wealthy oil man, don’t give a crap about the residents who struggle with making ends meet (oh, but they do, which is why they want the growth–NOT)
We are doomed as a community, because the local city commissioners have for years just done what TPTB want, like build a new hospital a couple years ago FIVE miles north of town. If there ever was a local governing body that is New World Order, agenda 21 bound, this is it!!!
I just wish there was some knowledgeable and concerned group that would pick up on this post and help confront these criminals, because the locals that had the guts to speak out have just quit showing up to commission meetings long ago!
I almost forgot, THE LOCAL WATER ‘OFFICIALS’ will continue their fluoridation when the new plant eventually comes on line.
Should an individual, whether local or from outside, be able to draw on a local resource such as water to become wealthy without consideration to those that are living there. I think the government officials should not allow their water to be sold. A lot of politicians do not have the wisdom to know the true value of water and are willing to sell it for a couple of nails. They are not able to see how it is going to be years down the road. They think that water is an endless resource. Even water has an end. They are selling their own blood so they can survive one more day. It is amazing how these companies started off. Its like a thief that stole the town’s car tires only to sell it back to the people they stole from.
The local officials here will spend hundreds of thousands, if not millions, to lay infrastructure lines to facilities, then discount the water rates,(leaving the long time residents and small businesses with old and poorly maintained infrastructure and the increased rates) provide tax incentives of one kind or another, touting job creation and growth thru increased sales taxes from payrolls that only pay ten to twelve bucks and hour. Often, the number of “jobs” being created don’t come close to what they say. As in this expansion I discussed in my post most likely, they will not increase ANY.
I disagree that “politicians do not have the wisdom….”, I believe they know EXACTLY what they are doing! Serving wealthy interests, after all, they will get their picture in the local paper and maybe even their name on a plaque! (wonder how much they really get under the table)
Evil people like this need to be forcibly subjected to their own desires for others.
Water would be a basic human right if everyone was instilled with the spirit and function of the 2nd Amendment.
Just pump the guy full of HIS water until he drowns in it – see how much he likes it.
yes
Americans have the God given right to as much poisoned (fluoridated) water as they can afford!
Right out of “Total Recall,” where a corporation owned the rights to breathable air.
Excellent report Anthony – is there a link that can lead me to any reports of how groups are being hired as shills by corporations to infiltrate sites like yours to make the stupid comments they make trolling sites that people who have stupid convictions wouldn’t even come to? I get a lot of those with my articles – and I’ll like to investigate that scenario.
He’s an A$$HOLE….won’t EVER buy anything from Nestles EVER again [email protected][email protected]!
Burn that corporation down
