Everyone knows the saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”, and it really couldn’t be more true. Another study showed that children with mother who ate apples during pregnancy were less prone to asthma for their first five years after being born. The study, conducted by researchers in The Netherlands and Scotland, followed 2,000 pregnant women and 1,253 of their children. The team reported their findings in the medical journal Thorax, and concluded that children of moms who ate more than 4 apples per week had a 37 percent reduced chance of having a history of wheezing and were 53 percent less likely to have doctor-confirmed asthma.
It could be the phytochemical makeup in apples which make them so effective at fighting asthma. The benefits of apples when it comes to asthma reduction may also have a lot to do with the flavonoids, which are shown to decrease bronchial hypersensitivity and relieve inflammation in the respiratory system.

Apples Don’t Stop at Asthma Treatments – They Also Get Rid of Hiccups
If you ask 20 different people how to get rid of hiccups, you’ll most likely get 20 different answers. I’ve heard anything from peanut butter, to lemons, to turning yourself upside down while holding your breath.
