Safety Group Blows Lid on ‘Secret Virus’ Hidden in GMO Crops
Yet another disturbing reason has emerged as to why you should be avoiding health-devastating genetically modified organisms, and it may be one of the most concerning yet. We know that GMO consumption has been linked to a host of serious conditions, but one thing we are not so sure about is the recent discovery of a hidden viral gene deep within genetically modified crops.
For years, GMOs have been consumed knowingly and unknowingly around the globe, with Monsanto and the United States government claiming that the altered franken crops are perfectly safe despite very limited (or virtually none in some cases) initial testing and scientists speaking out against the dangers. One such danger that has actually not been spoken about has been revealed in a recent report by a safety watchdog group known as the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
Another Dirty Secret of Monsanto
In the EFSA report, which can be read online, you can find (within the scientific wording) that researchers discovered a previously unknown viral gene that is known as ‘Gene VI’. What’s concerning is that not only is the rogue gene found in the most prominent GMO crops and about 63% of GMO traits approved for use (54 out of 86 to be precise), but it can actually disrupt the very biological functions within living organisms. Popular GMO crops such as Roundup-Ready soybeans, NK603, and MON810 corn were found to contain the gene that induces physical mutations. NK603 maize, of course, was also recently linked to the development of mass tumors in rats.
According to Independent Science News, Gene VI also inhibits RNA silencing. As you may know, RNA silencing has been pinpointed as vital for the proper functioning of gene expression when it comes to RNA. Perhaps more topically, it is a defense mechanism against viruses in plants and animals alike. On the contrary, many viruses have developed genes that disable this protective process. Independent Science News reports that the Gene VI is one such gene.
Overall, there is a degree of knowledge on Gene VI. What we do know going by information within the report is that the gene:
- Helps to assemble virus particles
- Inhibits the natural defense of the cellular system
- Produces proteins that are potentially problematic
- Makes plants susceptible to bacterial pathogens
All of which are very significant effects that should be studied in depth by an independent team of scientists after GMO products are taken off the market pending further research on the entire array of associated diseases. And that does not even include the effects we are unaware of.
This is yet another incident in which Monsanto and other biotech companies are getting away with an offense against the citizens of the world with (most likely) no action taken by the United States government. What we have seen, however, is nations like Russia, Poland, Hungary, and Peru taking a stand against Monsanto in direct opposition to their disregard for public safety. Russia, in fact, banned Monsanto’s GMO corn variety after it was linked to mass tumors in rats.
As more and more dirty secrets come out from the GMO industry at large, it gives further reason and more support to remove GMOs as a whole from the food supply.

When I got those changes implemented, I began teaching others how to do the same and encouraged them to pass it along to others. This is how we got dolphin-safe tuna -which was only a semi-victory, because eating tuna is not necessary for human survival. All change begins with me, as the saying goes.

Can someone throw me a bone here, I've scanned through the paper and this "mutates other crops" is what I am looking for more info on, where is the substantiation of that statement or was it revised and is still lingering in facebook's cache? If that above statement is completely TRUE, then this would confirm my fears of GMO AND WORSE! It is a bioweapon, through and through! And free market solutions might have some serious problems dealing with this (unless you like eating food that kills you). Maybe all the nwo had to do was open pandoras box knowing that nobody would ever agree enough on a threat like this to get the right solution deployed. To LG1, Of course the industry (EFSA) says it's safe. In that report they also suggest that artificially inserting (gene VI) is equivalent to it existing naturally. Every non-industry study that I have read shows that this is PR propaganda. Gene VI *when inserted* changes other gene expression. This information is available to you LG1, you just have to dig deeper than the industry press information.

I am not pro-GMO. I refuse to feed GE foods to my family. But when I read that this article was written by an “investigative journalist” the red flags go up. dude I was actually so bothered by your extreme bias to this scientific study that i feel compelled to tell you how wrong you are. First of all the sequence wasn't previously unknown or some big conspiracy. It is just a really good promoter sequence in genetics to make sure you get expression of a certain trait for instance resistance to drought. Also the protein in question in the article is a multi functional protein of which non of the sequences used in food contain. Thirdly, VIRUSES AFFECT BIOLOGICAL FUNCTION THEY ALL DO! its not like this is some super dangerous thing. Lastly to affect us this gene sequence would have to make it through our digestive system unaffected find its way into our gametes to produce mutation. Our body doesn't just take in genetic segments and add it to our dna. We would accumulate to many deadly mutations. In summation you were being ignorant and you should read the article in question before just spewing biased crap everywhere.

no it doesn't but that random mix of proteins are more than capable of passing through the gut. Also, at bare minimum as it contains potential allergens, eating it all the time would likely induce IBS, chrons, chronic inflammation syndromes of the gut even if it didn't pass through into the blood stream. If it does, or if the proteins do, bearing in mind that messenger molecules are involved in here as well, then it may explain the liver/kidney and cardio-vascular (at least some of it) symptoms associated with gmo (I understand bt toxin and bt gene can enter the bloodstream and do this as well).
As for how they go about making these organisms, their techniques are imprecise and it's not like these things are engineered, rather the way I see it they are "trial and error" monsters and if they appear to work for a short little while they get the rubber ok stamp.
the sequence used doesn't encode for a protein. It is just a promoter sequence to ensure that the companies trait of choice is expressed. Its not like they are trying to get the gene expressed. And yes if you have a greater overlap with the gene 6 region it is possible to produce some sort of allergen so just limit the size of the promoter sequence. The techniques are not imprecise and they are engineered. AS for BT toxin i'm not educated on the substance but from what i've read its resistance to digestion probably has something to do with the fact that it is crystallized
A few things…. First, the so called "EFSA report" the author links to is actually not an official EFSA scientific output – it is written by scientist that used to work for the EFSA. Please visit the EFSA website for their official report. Second, the viral gene (Gene VI) belongs to a PLANT virus (Cauliflower Mosaic virus) that does not infect animals or humans. CaMV naturally infects many plants with no recorded health effects and the inhibitor to RNA silencing encoded by Gene VI is likely only specific to plants. In fact, the nature of retroviruses like these in plants have been proven as a way plants deal with diseases and is effectively akin to a plants version of an immune system. In sum, this viral gene is probably benign to humans – as the paper suggests.

Fact is, even the non-gmo stuff bears no guarantee either. Without some sort of serious concerted effort by people to contain and get rid of this poison from our tables and from the environment, the faster these aggressive genetic modifications will engage in tainting the other plants growing nearby and spread. It really is a grim situation when you know one day these jerks in power will jack up the rates of medical help as a means of milking the masses into paying to live, and population control. Why do we have such ill children today. Every class in every school now has children with allergies, autism, asthma, ADHD, mental illness and the list goes on. Agree. People have been drinking raw milk in most parts of the world for thousands of years. Casein is not to blame for the world's diseases. By the way, "lactose intolerant" was almost unheard of years ago; because most people got a decent amount of probiotics in their diets, and most people drank raw milk or consumed raw milk products. It was only with the mass pasteurization of milk in the early 1900's that people began developing sensitivities to milk.
