  1. I deeply agree with Mr. Mike Barret. Patenting genetically modified organisms or transgenic species can lead to corporations "owning" a walking, breathing creature like ourselves and ownership of such "intelligent design" would open the doors to another form of human and/or animal slavery.

When I was younger, I thought that by the time I had reached adulthood, such things as groups of people fighting to obtain a win to say, "I own this!" would be a thing of the past for adults and mature people were not to behave in such manners. Ideally, parents teach their children to share and to do things for the "greater good". They teach children to be charitable with open hearts, open arms, open minds in the ways that they behave and operate, but in the present where we adults go about living, it seems clear to me that the reversal of all these lessons are how adults seems to think is the rational way to act and to be under this Capitalistic system. The way to operate seems to be getting as much as you can, and owning as much as you can as the acceptable behaviors of mature men and women in our capitalist structural designed lifestyle.

Science or biotechnology should be restricted to be as a tool aimed for the "greater good" of all and should be a field for the general public, for we all know that it is a field that can also be used as a dangerous tools just as greatly as it provides tremendous social benefits. Whatever an aim is in regards to almost all things in life, people will behave to uphold it, and science is such a vital equipment, it should have the best ethical standards and guidelines in place to produce the best results as its aim. It holds the ability to affect us all.

Patenting, under our current cap. system is the greatest thing a person or a corporation could do for themselves, but it is not for the general welfare of everyone and that is why Capitalism has to be eradicated or deeply supplemented by government interventions to uphold social ethnics.

  2. Slavery by any other name is still slavery!
