If you ever buy kid’s meals at Wendy’s you’ll be happy to know that the apples they serve will not be GM ‘Arctic apples’ as per a recent statement by the company. The company reportedly confirmed in April via email to Friends of the Earth that it has no plans to sell Arctic apples. McDonald’s and Gerber have also reportedly stated that they won’t be using this GM apple variety. Can we trust them?
Wendy’s, McDonald’s, and other Big Food companies don’t exactly have the best track record when it comes to serving healthy food, but mega corporations like these are becoming less and less relevant to a public who is increasingly interested in what they are being served.
Lisa Archer, food and technology program director at Friends of the Earth said:
“Wendy’s is wisely listening to its customers by joining other major food companies and apple growers in rejecting this unnecessary and risky genetically engineered apple. It’s becoming increasingly clear that there is no demand for this new GMO.”
Even with HR 1599, the DARK (Deny American’s the Right to Know) Act pending approval, Americans have made it very clear that they don’t want GM food. Consumer outcry over the USDA and FDA’s approval led environmental and consumer organizations to ask Burger King, Wendy’s Company, Subway, and others to refrain from selling the Arctic apple, which may pose numerous environmental, health and economic risks.
Even apple growers and growing associations have opposed the GM Arctic Apple. US Apple and the Northwest Horticultural Council (representing Washington apple growers, who grow more than 60 percent of U.S. apples), have iced concern over the GMO apple, some explaining that potential cross-contamination may cause important export markets such as Europe and China to reject U.S. grown apples or require costly testing and certifications from farmers and exporter companies.
We’ve been growing apples GMO-free in this country for hundreds of years. We certainly don’t need genetically modified, non-browning apples now. At least Wendy’s and a few other Big Food brands are listening to the public on this issue, but that still leaves numerous questionable ingredients in their ‘food.’
I have a joke for you.
A couple is taking their children out for lunch. They’re sitting at a traffic light waiting for the light to change and are trying deciding if they should turn left into Burger King or right into Wendy’s. At the last moment, they decide to go right, because Wendy’s won’t have genetically modified apples and the parents are concerned about the food they’re feeding their children.
Hilarious, right? I certainly laughed when I read this blog story.
Yeah, lol, Kind of like taking your opinions as any credited source.
The only thing have schools or fast food industries getting non-GMO or organic will do is, take them from the people, to whom they belong.
No one has ever accused you of being credible that’s for sure.
I don’t wish death on people or sit around while they starve.
If that makes you creditable then have at it.
I don’t sit around while people starve, I help farmers produce enough food to feed the world. As for death, it is coming for us all eventually, but some people wish to speed up the process with their treasonist talk.
Your an activist, who have you helped?
LOL, I have helped many people in my endeavors. My customers as well as many for charity. I would even assist someone as cruel as you are if the occasion was there.
Exactly, no one.
Your all BS, but I guess that’s good for the fields your products have ruined
Yes, the record yields are really taking their toll aren’t they.
Yes the weather has been favorable on crops in the past couple of years, all crop yields are up. Very true
2014 will be remembered as the second crop year in a row with weather extremes and highly variable crop conditions in many areas of Minnesota and Iowa. Persistent very wet soil conditions in much of south-central, east-central and southeastern Minnesota during April and May resulted in a large amount of corn acres in those areas being planted in late May or early June. There was a significant amount of prevented planted acres in some central Minnesota counties. Soybean planting dates in that same region were delayed until mid-to-late June, with some planting dates extending into early July. Planting dates in southwest Minnesota and the western half of south-central Minnesota, as well as adjoining areas of northern Iowa, were later than normal; however, most corn was planted in May, and most growers finished with soybean planting by early June.
Many portions of the eastern half of Minnesota received two to three times the normal amount of rainfall during the month of June, with some very heavy rainfall events and severe storms in parts of the region that caused significant crop loss in some areas. The 2014 corn and soybean crop in many areas of south-central and southeast Minnesota never fully recovered from the cool, wet start to the growing season. The extra rainfall early in the growing season did allow for restoration of stored soil moisture levels to near maximum levels in many areas, which proved to be quite beneficial later in the growing season, when precipitation levels in many areas were well below normal.
A mid-September frost across a wide area of south-central Minnesota and north-central Iowa resulted in an early end to a growing season, which already featured later than normal maturing crops. The end result was some very disappointing corn and soybean yields in many areas of Minnesota and northern Iowa. There was a portion of southwest and west-central Minnesota that had more favorable growing conditions in 2014, and that missed the mid-September frost, which had much better crop yields.
From the Corn and Soybean Digest
Shall we review 2015 for more proof that you don’t know what you are talking about?

Yes, the record yields are really taking their toll aren’t they.
So you lied, or are the yields up, because you knew I wouldn’t look then you could act like your some sort of a genius and call me stupid and traitor again.
Yields are up despite less than perfect growing conditions thanks to the superior abilities of gmos to handle stress. My post above shows some of the weather issues, you or anyone else can look up the record yields from last year to once again prove you don’t have a clue.
It didn’t specify GMO’s?
For all I know the non-gmo’s survived the weather and not the GMO’s.
I understand that you don’t know a lot, but at less than ten percent of the crop non gmo could not have made up the record yields. Thanks again for showing your stupidity.
Thanks again for demonstrating that GMO is a dangerous monopoly and needs to be reigned in before it’s too late.
Yes very dangerous as the record yields help to feed the world. I can see where that could be a dangerous situation to someone with your ideas.
Help to poison the world. Russia has totally banned gmo and hungary has burnt most of the gmo to the ground. Scotland has made it a crime to plant one gmo seed.
Russia doesn’t really plant much to begin with so it was an easy statement to make. It was much more for political reasons than anything else.
So you can murder more people with your poisons.
You have been paid by the pro gmo murderers and you are conniving in the death of millions of people.
Name just one, with proof of course.
gmo poisonous crops. I would burn this gmo rubbish to the ground.
There are millions of acres out there, you had bettered get started. Be careful because most farmers carry guns.
LMAO, the Monsanto folks trespass on their property all of the time, taking crop samples.
Guess they need to learn to use them first.
More statements without proof, tsk tsk.
How do you think they take folks to court for patent infringement, the people turn themselves in?
LMAO
No usually their neighbors do.
Hearsay isn’t admissible as evidence, ie trespassing to get admissible evidence.
No moron, it is probable cause. After probable cause Monsanto may at their discretion ask for seed receipts and planting records for the fields in question. After which WITH the grower they may inspect and sample the fields in question. The grower cannot refuse as they agreed to in by signing the trait agreement.
People who don’t grow GMO have no contract with a GMO seed corporation?
Even probable cause requires a simple demonstration of knowledge of fact. Saying I saw my neighbor planting, like he has been doing for the last 40 years, doesn’t demonstrate the planting of GMO, ie hearsay inadmissible. They need permission to enter the property or a search warrant.
More importantly, an affidavit based on hearsay (which could not be used as evidence in a criminal trial) can be used as the basis for issuing a search warrant, so long as the circumstances in their totality establishprobable cause. See Illinois v. Gates, 462 U.S. 213 (1983).
Once again proving that you don’t understand anything you babble about. That again keeps your status as a moron safe.
That was granted because of the DEA’s investigation and the fact that they were known drug dealers.
So your neighbors are known to steal GMO seeds and deal them to the other seed thief’s in your community?
There is a big time illegal GMO seed dealer there, or do these presumed illegal GMO seed dealers have to cross statelines to get them?
Were are not talking crack cocaine Stinky, get a grip on reality.
Logically and realistically, all this crap does it divide the farming communities and discourage the true essence of communications and support throughout the local farming community by establishing distrust and discourage support during hard times.
Way to support the local Farmers and their families, Stinky.
Though I know your just some snot nosed punk playing like your some big successful guy in your fictional town of Podunk.
Again you have proved your ignorance. Your fantasy communities just don’t exist. You need to wake up and realize we are dealing with a world wide community, I know that is beyond your realm of thinking but have someone draw you a picture.
You said you support the narc’ing on the local community, instead of supporting them. Your the one comparing GMO seeds to crack cocaine, saying I’m in a fantasy world, LMAO!!
What are the legal remedies if GMO is found on a non-GMO farmers crops?
If it is truly a non gmo field that has been contaminated then there are no legal actions against the farmer. Of course you already knew that and are just trying to mislead people again.
Hey professional activist (liar), the question was,
What are the legal remedies if GMO is found on a non-GMO farmers crops?
So they just sell the crop as they normally would in spite of patent infringement?
I’m trying to mislead people, lmao. Your the one avoiding the question.
If you don’t know the answer just say so.
I did answer it again you aren’t smart enough to understand. There would be NO liability by either side. Do you need a picture there moron?
Tell that to Mr. Schmeiser.
Yes the poor soul that tried to profit from the contamination. If he would have just kept going the way he was he wouldn’t have ended in court. Nice try there moron but again you missed like usual.
That was for patent infringement, they trespassed and took random crop samples, then statistically determined that 80% or something like that was GMO. So because he was trying to sell his crop, he didn’t know, they sued him.
But he later found GMO on his property and Monsanto refused to remove it from his property, he won and was awarded $600 or something like that.
So if he would have known in the first place, experience dictates, he would have sued them in the first place to remove their product off of his property.
He must have bought his seed from the GMO seed black market, they live next door to the crack cocaine dealers lmao.
Again, what are the non-GMO farmers remedies for their crop’s contamination?
They can’t sell it, they will be sued for patent infringement.
He was sued after he started spraying his crop with glyphosate. Why lie? Anyone can look this stuff up. I understand it would be much harder to confirm that you are lying about your service record, but this? It only proves your stupidity.
And you are one of the traitors and liars conniving to murder millions of people.
Twenty years with zero issues let alone deaths.
No one has ever accused you of being a liar.
Since I don’t they have no reason to.
I can’t understand your comment. Please clarify the wording.
Answer some questions for me first, what is a blog and it’s purpose.
Then explain why this one is any different than your pro GMO bloggers?
My answer to your question, opinions aren’t fact.
A blog is an informal website that contains posts made by one or more individuals, who may or may not be experts on the subject they are writing about. The purpose of blogs is generally to convey an opinion. There is no quality control with blogs. As such, blogs are not reliable sources of information. All should be considered skeptically. When it comes to issues related to science, peer-reviewed journals are the gold standard. Alternatively, science magazines, like Scientific American can be good too.
A typical Web site has a home page that links to sub-pages within the
site. naturalsociety.com is typical of this genre. The naturalsociety site contains thousands of articles all organized into big categories. The categories and all the latest stories are accessed from the home page.
This is a journalistic web site. Kind of like watching the evening news. whether you choose to believe or not is up to you.
Journalism is gathering, processing, and dissemination of news, and information related to news, to an audience.
In a democratic society, however, access to free information plays a
central role in creating a system of checks and balance, and in
distributing power equally amongst governments, businesses, individuals,
and other social entities. Access to verifiable information gathered by
independent media sources, which adhere to journalistic standards, can
also be of service to ordinary citizens, by empowering them with the
tools they need in order to participate in the political or social process.
The concept of community journalism is at the center of new
developments in journalism. In this new paradigm, journalists are able
to engage citizens and the experts and elites in the proposition and
generation of content. While there is an assumption of equality,
It could also be considered a means of conveying messages or information to the general public in laymans terms, with additional information added for researching to those so inclined or the more ambitious readers.
There are pure scientific publications out there, yes, but I don’t feel the need to get a phd in science just to read news.
Blogs are prone to error and science isn’t, isn’t that rather condescending?
Any my point was, the more commercial industries use organic or non GMO’s the less availability the people will have due to commercial demands. Each year the farming population goes down and monoculture acreage goes up.
Scientific American paid by Monsanto to lie about gmo. The quality of Sc Am has gone down the tubes in recent years.
Do you have or are you aware of evidence showing that Monsanto has paid scientific American writers to “lie”?
Do you have any evidence that scientists aren’t capable of the common human traits and temptations?
Asking someone to prove a negative demonstrates a poor grasp of basic logic.
Lol, behavioral sciences, nice try.
Thoughts of Burger King, Wendy’s, or McDoodle Burger are about as appealing as their food.

Sam always liked to get Candy Corn for Halloween – but now he’s found something better. It’s Pirate Corn. There’s only one problem. It’s a buck an ear.
Fiddy boom.
