Marijuana and its use has been studied over the course of the last few decades more so than even many leading FDA-approved pharmaceutical drugs, with researchers categorizing the effects of marijuana to a much greater degree than many of the pharmaceutical drugs you or your family may currently be taking.
In a revelation that really demonstrates our scientific focus in the United States, where marijuana is still considered by federal law to be a dangerous and illegal substance placed in the same class as hard drugs like heroin, even mainstream media publications have begun calling out the strange doctrine of the medical community that pushes pharma drugs on the public at warp speed. This, all while scoffing at the use of ‘no high’ marijuana alternatives like the juicing of cannabis oil.
A quick search within the PubMed National Library of Medicine database for ‘marijuana’ turns up a host of studies, highlighting every aspect imaginable regarding the plant in its many forms. Some advocacy websites have even compiled hundreds of studies in an easy-to-read format surrounding marijuana, which has led numerous journalists to ask the obvious question: “why are we spending so much time researching an illegal drug for its numerous benefits while stamping side-effect-riddled drugs with the FDA stamp of approval with far less research?”
An analysis of 200 FDA-backed pharmaceutical drugs even found that almost 33% of approved drugs were granted the approval over a single piece of clinical study.
And to be clear, the uses of the cannabis plant far extend beyond ‘getting high’ — to the degree that it was ultimately ruled to be illegal in all forms thanks to mega billion dollar corporations fearing its many uses that extend even into the realm of construction and agriculture. Because, as you are probably aware, industrial-grade hemp (a high-growing variety of cannabis) can be used in protein shakes, building materials, oils used for the prevention and treatment of disease, and actually does not get you high.
In fact, it’s ultra rich in fiber and is all around an amazing superfood. Even sources like the Livestrong foundation agree that hemp packs a powerful fiber-based punch of protein and essential nutrients that can enhance your overall health, reporting:
“Fiber is a nutrient many Americans do not get enough of in their diet, according to the Dietary Guidelines. Women need 25 grams of fiber a day, and men 38 grams. Whole hemp seeds are comprised of 10 to 15 percent fiber, or about 1 gram per 3 tablespoons. Fiber in food like hemp seeds improves bowel function by helping prevent constipation. The fiber also increases feelings of fullness so you eat less.”
But it’s still banned in the United States under federal law thanks to the Controlled Substances Act (P.L. 91-513; 21 U.S.C. 801 et seq.).
When considering that the average drug label contains 70 side effects, and have not been thoroughly studied for long-term effects in many cases, it’s easy to see the scientific oddity that exists around the use of non-THC containing hemp (at the very least). Many popular pharmaceuticals have even been found to contain 100 to 125. Some pharma drugs come with over 525 negative reactions.
Ritalin, for example, has been linked to conditions including:
- Increased blood pressure
- Increased heart rate
- Increased body temperature
- Increased alertness
- Suppressed appetite
As the realization within the United States comes into focus surrounding the practical and health-related uses of marijuana, especially in its ‘no high’ non-THC form that only serves to enhance one’s health and state, it’s becoming more clear than ever that a serious role exists for hemp within the US and beyond.

It’s a crime against American farmers that they aren’t allowed to grow such a diverse, useful, and profitable crop such as industrial hemp. They suffer, and the consumers suffer, because we now have to import things like hemp fabric, and it’s very expensive to do so. We could use industrial hemp for *so* many products that it’s really mind-blowing.
That’s not even to mention the crimes against humanity by demonizing and illegalizing cannabis when it’s such a marvelous medicinal plant. What a messed-up world we live in… 🙁
Nope, farmers are only allowed to grow GMO poison….and people scoff at the thought of population reduction/DNA altering. This isn’t just about cannabis….this kind of Gov illusion exists across the board.
Thank you Anthony for a careful, thoughtful exposition.
Under our common law, no one needs special govt approval to sell a product, even a food product.
You might need a local business license or file your FDA foods facility registration, but that applies to all foods. Hemp foods are no different and they are becoming readily available on the market, world wide.
While various governments have made various parts of the hemp plant contraband, they are generally, wisely, refraining from enforcing when it comes to processed food products like hemp seed kernels and hemp oil. I strongly suspect that the authorities understand that these products pose no threat to the public.
While THC remains proscribed, other nutrients that are found in hemp are also found elsewhere in the food supply, or are made in the human body, as is endo-cannabidiol (CBD). CBD products are also widely available as dietary supplements and could not be proscribed since a substance native to the human (or other mammal) body is not a “drug” but simply part of normal structure and function.
EPILEPSY CBD
Hemp & cannabis does not wore the same in many peoples experience, it’s important to differ the two:
As respected members of the cannabis community, the undersigned groups and activists support full spectrum cannabis legislation and treatment for children with autism and seizure disorders. We agree that experience and research show proper and effective treatment requires the combination only the full cannabis plant can provide. We also agree that we need to support other organizations and activists who stand with us and concur that medical cannabis, by definition, includes the entire plant and all its chemical compounds.
As more parents learn that cannabis can help their children with autism and seizure disorders, it has become necessary to point out that the upshot of CBD only legislation and companies that produce CBD only products are giving what may be false hope to families who have exhausted other avenues of treatment.
We believe it is vital to understand the importance of using the entire cannabis plant as part of their solution. Parents who are worried that their children are “getting high” need to know that cannabis does not have the same psychoactive effect on the brain of a child with severe epilepsy or autism as it does on the average person. It actually works to slow the neurons that are firing so rapidly down, creating a healthier brain not a “high” brain. It is equally important for parents to know that they can give their children full plant cannabis without getting them “high.” Ingesting whole plant cold extract cannabis delivers non- psychoactive, non-psychotropic effects. This is an essential factor in building up the system that enables THC and CBD to work. It also allows the incorporation of the myriad beneficial components that cannabis provides.
The truth is that many parents who have tried CBD only treatments for their children with autism and epilepsy report no success or reduction in symptoms. They are forced to go to the black market to get the medicine they need. In fact, parents who are using straight THC as a rescue medication for their children’s seizures are seeing great results. Their children are cognitive and coherent instead of high and out of commission for a whole day.
Industrial hemp does not contain the amount of THC or CBD needed to make an effective treatment for epilepsy or autism. Also important to remember is that these CBD producers are unregulated; there is no proof that they are really providing what they promise. That, along with the lack of results are two good reasons to consider other options.
Parents, please feel free to contact the groups listed below to learn more about the differences between full plant and CBD only cannabis treatments to make a more informed decision. Your child’s life depends on it.
