FDA Approved: List of Irradiated Foods Grows in Order to Rid Pathogens
It isn’t as if we aren’t already exposed to ghastly amounts of radiation. Between the radioactive isotopes contaminating the entire West Coast, to the over-use of mammography, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments to treat cancer, we are bombarded with radioactive contamination. Now, the FDA, in their infinite wisdom, has decided to approve a whole new list of foods for radiation treatment – a practice that has been in motion for many foods for some time.
Irradiated food was previously considered necessary only on very rare occasions, and was originally permitted for only a few foods. With this new rule, not only will meats, poultry, fruits, vegetables, spices, and lettuces be radiated, but now also crab, shrimp, lobster, crayfish, and prawns.
This is a large expanse of foods that many of us enjoy, and they shouldn’t need to be made into cancer-causing gastronomies simply because the FDA is too lazy, or infiltrated with corporate money, to solve the problem at its root. The dosage that will now be allowed is ridiculous:
According to the FDA, “At the maximum permitted dose of 6.0 kilogram, this new use of ionizing radiation will reduce, but not entirely eliminate, the number of pathogenic (illnesses causing) microorganisms in or on crustaceans.”

Why would radiation be used at all, when it won’t eliminate all the pathogens present in the food? One tiny little microorganism can cause food borne illness, otherwise known as food poisoning.
Once those organisms are inside the intestinal tract, all heck breaks loose. There is also a substantial body of evidence that irradiated foods are not healthy for human consumption. While many of the laboratory tests have been done on dogs and rats (this is also disparaging), the evidence that irradiated food is unsafe is staggering.
It can cause carcinoma of the pituitary gland, problems with fertility and other unsavory effects like internal bleeding until rats bled to death. Irradiated food can make the body’s ability to absorb nutrients very poor as well, so if you are getting any nutrients at all from your radiation treated food, it is likely that the body will not assimilate it.
As usual, the FDA has no concern for public health and will pass any rules that favor food corporations, making it easier for them to pass off fake, nutrient-lacking food as something only a sick and dying person would want to consume. Oh wait, or are they trying to make sure we are all sick and dying?

Your title, “FDA Approved: List of Irradiated Foods Grows in Order to Rid Pathogens” should be “FDA Approved: List of Irradiated Foods Grown in Order to Get Rid of Pathogens.” But, even that is wrong. It infers that the foods are GROWN to get rid of pathogens, which makes no sense. In fact the food is grown, then IRRADIATED in order to get rid of pathogens (even better, bacteria and parasites.) The combination of irradiation and pesticides, produce URP’s, the pathogens. The food itself most likely does not contain pathogens. Either way, the title reminds me of a cheap Japanese import product that contains barely readable instructions, like “attach stand to on base for have maximums stability.” I’ve actually read that before. Sorry to be a drag, I knew what you meant, but it just shows the level of barely passable English, and why the internet needs a heavy handed proofreader.
It is clear in the title that the LIST . . . GROWS (bigger). What is wrong with such English?

The CHEMICAL ENERGY also has the IONIZING POWER to SPLIT MOLECULES to form FREE RADICALS and to make the FREE RADICALS combine to form MOLECULES of new compounds.
MATTER and ENERGY CANNOT be DESTROYED, as TOGETHER they form a CONSTANT. They can only be transformed from one state to another. That is the scientific fact based on the LAW of CONSERVATION of MASS and ENERGY. Can the PROMOTERS of IRRADIATION dare to CHALLENGE this ABSOLUTE TRUTH? They should NOT FORGET this UNCHALLENGEABLE TRUTH!!! They should ALWAYS REMEMBER it.
Due to the massive destruction of vitamins and other nutrients, and the formation of unique radiolytic products, which are caused by IRRADIATION, the REGULAR consumption of IRRADIATED FOODS is very DANGEROUS for human health. As IRRADIATED FOODS are consumed by more and more people, there will be MILLIONS of PREMATURE DEATHS all over the world. The population of the world is likely to REDUCE by 25 PER CENT, or even more, in the next few decades due to all the diseases caused by the REGULAR consumption of IRRADIATED FOODS!!
