In a recent press release, Campbell’s made several major announcements about improving the sustainability of its foods, including an aim to offer more non-GMO and organic foods.
The company claims:
“Campbell’s will be launching several lines of organic kid’s soups, and removing MSG from all their kid’s soups. In August 2015, the company will introduce Campbell’s Organic soup for kids in three chicken noodle varieties. The soups will be non-GMO and certified Organic.
- Pepperidge Farm will be launching several organic wheat versions of their popular Goldfish Crackers. Look for organic wheat versions of regular, cheddar, and parmesan in the coming year. They still need to remove GMOs and go completely organic with the rest of their ingredients.
Increasing organics across other food lines, and increasing the number of organic products offered by Plum.”
This is great news, that a major food brand is willing to finally answer the plea of millions of Americans for organic and non-GMO food. But it seems a little late and a bit odd considering that the major company has opposed GMO labeling with hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Two years ago, Campbell’s contributed over $265,000 to halt GMO labeling with Initiative 522 in Washington State.
Additionally, according to Just Label It and Truth Out, Campbell’s Soup, along with companies like General Mills, Pepsi, and Coca-Cola, spent millions of dollars to defeat labeling with the GMA in California as well.
Though it’s a huge win to see a big label like Campbell’s cave to public pressure, is the company going to be like Kellogg’s and lie to the public about GMOs being in their food? Only time will tell, but I’m not planning on buying anything from the company until all of their food is non-GMO verified by an independent lab.
What’s the point?….until they line the cans with a non-toxic biodegradable lining other than the toxic BPH endocrine disrupter etc lining it’s cans?…which makes a metrosexual soup out of little boys….the fish don’t like it either.
See even Eddie thinks this non gmo thing is a joke.
GFY
Yes Edwardo Gmos For You (GFY) as well. Don’t worry.
Its you thats a joke Bobby.
Yes it is a sad country when people like you think the truth is funny, but are willing to believe lies.
If the market is demanding organic, then I’m pretty sure the Corporations will follow the money. Has nothing to do with GMO’s, sheez.
Though the BPA’s are another potential health risk to be considered.
Yes organic consumption is skyrocketing, pretty soon it will be close to .0001%
That is due to economics and the current system of debt, which doesn’t increase the relevance of GMO’s.
Yes the economics that people don’t want to be overcharged for food that is the same, so buy gmo.
And, they must also stop using fluoridated (poisoned) water that contains fluorosilicic acid, a toxic waste which contains about 23% sodium fluoride (man-made rat poison), lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium, barium and polonium. Most of these poisons are also carcinogens. And, the last three are known radioactive carcinogens.
Once they’ve proven to me that they’ve made all these improvements, then I’ll start buying Campbell’s products again.
BPA, BPS ??
do the research…then you’ll know!
Now they should work on the salt content and the packaging. Who wants to eat from aluminum cans?
• make almond milk at home: 1 C org almonds+4 C water +2 dates > blend -EZ (optional: filter)
• make coconut milk w/out coconuts: 1 can org coconut milk concentrate+4 C water + ? > blend -EZ
• Make large pots of bean/vege soup, freeze some -semi-EZ
• Use Icelandic, Celtic or RealSalt; better: mix them together for full spectrum minerals.
• Store everything in glass, minimize plastic
• Sprinkle turmeric & black pepper on everything that will accomodate them
• Get rid of non-stick cookware, meaning now, today > dump in trash. Do it! Use stainless, ceramic, iron.
etc, one step at a time
I found when you read the ingredience not all is organic.
Now they just need to get rid of all the cans!!! BPA.. The organic soup they have in the cartoon is way over priced
