  1. BUDS FERNANDO says:

Where can I get hold of this plant? Is this grown only in China?

  2. I worry that desperately sick people will misuse this herb so I spoke with an integrative oncologist, Dwight Mckee MD (Google) and he said that this plant has serious potential and also serious toxicity–it needs to be carefully studied. There are hundreds of deaths reported every year in China due to this plant–only the root can be used, and it must be carefully skinned of all bark–all other parts of the plant are extremely poisonous, from which the common name derives–you eat the plant, and the thunder god strikes you dead… There is some evidence that the toxicity of the compounds (which are very potent anti-inflammatories, and also immune suppressants) may be antidoted by thiols, such as NAC, lipoic acid, etc.
