  1. Then, the whole Japanese population has those ailments. Soy sauce is a staple for them.

    1. No, when Soy is fermented, it is very healthy- as in tofu, soy sauce, etc. Its ‘raw’ soy that is bad. The Japanse know how to eat it.

          No, it is not. In Japan (as well as most of Asia) edamame is not consumed nearly as much as it is in America; ironic ain’t it? Ancient cave paintings and manuscripts found in China show most grains depicted in its above-ground form. Soy is uniformly depicted in its below-ground form. In other words unlike other grains, soy was used as a source for fixing nitrogen in the soil. It was not used as a food source. Only after the Chinese figured out the process of fermentation was soy used as a food source.

      2. tofu is not fermented. it is cheese made of soy very similarly as cheese is made from dairy. no fermentation there, sadly. fermented soy products are tempeh, miso, soy sauce, among the most popular.

  2. Yeah, um…I call BS on this one. Japan has the longest average lifespan and certainly there’s no lack of brains there. Who comes up with this stuff? Do they read it in their horoscope or their Tarot cards?

    1. Most soy in the US is GMO. Soy used to be healthy and full of benefits once upon a time, but ever since it became part of the GMO experiment, it has become poison.

      1. Being GMO has nothing to do with it but the methods of refining it and processing it to add to packaged foods that were invented relatively recently and are not part of the original Japanese diet

    2. Did you not read this article at all? It clearly states the Asian way of preparing soy (fermentation) is the healthiest way to consume it.

  3. Total nonsense. Soy is eaten a lot in Japan. As tofu. Yes, miso, natto, soy sauce and the like are fermented, but much more types of fresh soy preducts have been eaten in Japan and Okinawa. They have one of the longest lifespan and great physical mobility.

      20-60 mg of genistein per day in the US vs. 5mg per day in Japan.
      And no, Asians DO NOT consume more I fermented soy derivatives than we do in the US. Nowhere in the world does when you consider the amounts we consume as “filler” in salad dressings, etc.

    If you want to find out what I found out,,google/bing my name w/soy.
    You can believe soy is good for you if you want to,,but no one will deny that estrogen overabundance is a bad thing.(google it)
    You can claim ADM/Monsanto or our Gov would never allow something harmful to be in our food if you have that kind of mindset,,but no one can deny that a hormone imbalance is detrimental to your health.
    You can feel good about your favorite politicos and food corps all you want but you can NOT deny that too much of any thing,,even phyto estrogens can cause a human or any life form to suffer horribly from an out of whack physiology.
    You can pretend all you want that the profit hungry will never do anything bad to you but you can not deny that estrogen makes humans fat,contributes to inflammation,,causes strokes ,vascular dementia and reduces the availablibilty of testosterone and thereby inhibits the bodies ability to heal or feel healthy sexual stimulation while inhibiting fertility and actually influencing the sex of babies in utero.
    You can wish the world were full of unicorns that poop cheeseburgers that magically make health problems disappear too,but we all know the truth of that,,it’s equal to the PTB having our best interests at heart and never allowing a poison to be in our food supply in order to simply push us all into kowtowing to the insurance/medical/political cadres who only care about control,power and profit over and off of the dumbed down masses.

  6. most ptobably it is true, only fermented non gmo soy is safe to eat. and since all mass grown animals are fed with gmo soy and corn (among other things such as hormones and antibiotics), best option is to become a whole grain organic #VEGAN. 😉 or better yet, mostly raw (or fully raw) organic vegan. 🙂

  7. Since it is used in all weight loss foods, people will never give it up no matter what it does to them . The fact that it tastes like crap isn’t enough to stop the dieters from consuming it.
