During a recent agricultural summit in Iowa, Ted Cruz used the words “anti-science zealotry” to describe the viewpoint of the over 90% of Americans who want GMOs labeled. Like Hillary Clinton, Cruz seems to have picked sides in the GMO debate, and his name calling isn’t very pretty.
As S.D. Wells has said:
“The term anti-science is pure propaganda from Monsanto, regurgitated by Cruz, and doesn’t even make sense. If health enthusiasts are ‘anti-science,’ then GMO proponents are ‘pro-genocidal-science.’ Hitler used science, too, to exterminate over 6 million innocent people. Are people who are against that type of science also ‘anti-science’?”
Cruz recently told his audience – whoever that is – through the Washington Post, not to let “anti-science zealotry” shut down GMOs. This remark came at a time when major food corporations are doing an about-face on GMO labeling due to Vermont’s mandatory bill going into effect this July. He also said that the anti-GMO movement is driven by “hysteria.” Considering that so many people are against agrichemical companies like Monsanto, Dow, and Syngenta and the food companies who have been (illegally) blocking food transparency, Cruz must be expecting a hefty paycheck. Declaring such a thing is otherwise a bit of political suicide.
Cruz also stated:
“People who decide that is what they want, they can pay for it already, but we shouldn’t let anti-science zealotry shutdown [sic] the ability to produce low-cost quality food for billions across the globe.”
Perhaps Cruz and Clinton can join in a hearty GMO meal after they are both ousted from their political positions in the very near future.
As Anthony Gucciardi previously reported:
“Beyond the science, there’s also the public outrage. As I’ve told you time and time again, we have seen massive public support across the board for GMO labeling, with mainstream polls demonstrating this:
The New York Times: 93% found to be in support of labeling GMOs
MSNBC: 96% in support
Reuters/NPR: 93% in support of full labeling
Washington Post: 95% in support of full labeling
Consumer Reports: 95% agree GM animals should be labeled
ABC News: 93% want federal GM labeling mandate
As we get closer to the 2016 elections, GMO labeling will continue to be a key issue that countless millions will be demanding answers on. Candidates like Ted Cruz, who speak towards a public that is desperate for a political revolution, could very well supercharge their campaign by adding GMO labeling initiatives to their agenda. After all, these initiatives are what helped Senator Bernie Sanders rise to the public eye to a much larger degree.”
Sanders, the only mainstream candidate who strongly supports mandatory GMO labeling, has said:
“When parents go to the store and purchase food for their children, they have a right to know what they are feeding them. GMO labeling exists in 64 other countries. There is no reason it can’t exist here.”
Sanders also strongly favors small and mid-sized family farms, regional food systems, and stopping the domination of the food supply by a few large corporations. He opposes trade deals like the TPP that would force America to accept agricultural products from countries that have little quality control or regard for workers’ rights.
Wow Chrissy, maybe Cruz isn’t that bad after all. I’m sure he would agree that your lies aren’t really journalism either.
In today’s news: Test results from Microbe Inotech Lab of St.Louis showing 10 different wines, from large and small vineyards, contained the chemical glyphosate, the active
ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup weedkiller, including wine made with organic grapes. Maybe you and Ted Cruz want to eat and drink RoundUp weedkiller in your foods, but there are many people like me who don’t. Wonder how much Monsanto contributed to Ted’s campaign and with his wife working for Goldman Sacks, how much he got from them? Supported Cruz earlier but the more I learn about him, he supports big business and seems to have sold out his votes for big bucks like the rest of them.
On March 16th, 2015 Moms Across America received the results from an anonymous supporter which commissioned Microbe Inotech Lab of St. Louis, Missouri that show all ten of the wines tested positive for the chemical glyphosate, the declared “active” ingredient in Roundup weedkiller and 700 other glyphosate-based herbicides. The highest level of glyphosate detected was up to 28.4 times higher than the other wines at 18.74 ppb from a 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon from a conventional, chemically farmed vineyard. The lowest level was from a biodynamic and organic vineyard, 2013 Syrah which has never been sprayed according to the owner, with a level of .659 ppb. An organic wine from 2012 mixed red wine grapes, had 0.913 ppb of glyphosate.
Parts per billion! Really! We’re all gonna die! But seriously folks, let’s compare these findings with the Environmental Protection Agency’s incredibly stringent glyphosate tolerances for various food and feed crops. The agency doesn’t set a threshold for wine, so let’s take its threshold for grapes. The EPA’s safe level for glyphosate on grapes is 0.2 parts per million (ppm). So how does the Moms Across America’s finding compare?
The highest level of detection is 10-times lower than the EPA’s safety threshold for grapes. The lowest detection was more than 3,000-times lower than EPA’s threshold.
The Moms Across America then suggest that the organic growers will lose business if customers find out that there is an infinitesmial amount of pesticide in their wines. Organic a process standard which certifies nothing about the nutrition of the product; only that it was grown in certain specified ways.
The final stupidity of the Moms Across America attack on glyphosate is that the IARC has definitely determined that the consumption of alcohol, including that found in organically produced wines, is “carcinogenic to humans.”
This is from a nice little article I found that describes your situation.
Yes the GE industry will attack Mothers their Children and any who oppose their tyranny. As long as their forced poverty is realized all is well…
Thanks for making that evident freelance.
Cruz is an elected official, Canadian, not one who is loyal to the American system of Govt.
Tater, don’t bother to reply to this monsatan shill. He will continually attack you if you do. He also believes it’s great for you and your families to consume “roundup”, that should be enough for anyone to know the devil resides in its soul.
He’s a freelance, mercenary, combatant, his only loyalty is to money.
He is among the lowest from of human life on the planet.
I’ll fight his kind always.
It gets paid by the word and ALWAYS wants the last word.
We know.
I get paid better than it does.
Poor spud still can’t understand the facts. The article I posted only used the test results that their claim. Or maybe he thinks the lab results were wrong to start with, either way just more jibberish to try and obscur the truth.
Poor freelance is doing his job, distributing pure opinion and using vague posts to discourage debate.
Even so, your just supporting any level of toxins to be present in our consumer goods based on regulatory policies, which are determined by those seeking approval so they can profit from their products.
I know that senator roberts thinks it’s ok to poison you and your children as evidenced by this post but you will pay for it when you pass which honestly can’t come soon enough.
Will you ever open your eyes? Even God will not put up with your stupidity.
UNtrusTED is nothing more than a snake oil preaching politician backed by huge super pacs. It appalls me that people can be so blind to his blatant lies – he is the republican version of Hillary.
Joyce, don’t waste your time replying to this gmo troll. He will start continually attacking you on here. He is the shill for monsatan.
well, then, cruz lost my vote. i’m sure he’s got investments in these companies to begin with, which is why he’s taking such a hard stance to stand by them. if he’s already this wicked, i can only image the damage he would do to this nation if he ever got elected.
What a ridiculous statement. Ted Cruz is declaring something anti-science?
Isn’t his denial of climate change anti-science?
I guess he only likes science if it pads his pockets.
DO NOT insult Hitler. ALL of this is what Adolf warned against. Monsanto are Sephardic Jews, just like the Crypto Rafael Cruz. Jews have been destroying food supplies since the days of Ancient Egypt.
