There’s a lot of quite concerning and truly sneaky secrets behind the ingredient known as high-fructose corn syrup. Not only has the infamously-unhealthy additive gone through a ‘renaming’ process by corporations in an attempt to fool you into eating it, but it is also known to hold some tremendously toxic baggage.
Now branded as ‘fructose’ in processed foods thanks to the whole issue of the public absolutely avoiding high-fructose corn syrup like the plague, it’s important to look back at one landmark study that revealed the presence of ultra-toxic mercury within the ingredient.
Mercury is, as all of the experts admit, toxic in all of its forms. And as the study by the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy found, nearly a third of 55 popular brand-name food and beverage products that listed HFCS as the first or second ingredient were found to contain it.
Even the co-author of the study, Dr. David Wallinga, warns:
“Mercury is toxic in all its forms. Given how much high-fructose corn syrup is consumed by children, it could be a significant additional source of mercury never before considered. We are calling for immediate changes by industry and the [U.S. Food and Drug Administration] to help stop this avoidable mercury contamination of the food supply.”
So why are we eating it?
The reality is that since 2009, when this major study was released and syndicated throughout the Washington Post and others amid the daily news cycle, we have been knowingly consuming high-fructose corn syrup that is contaminated with mercury. Bad enough on its own, this combination now puts high-fructose corn syrup over the edge as one of the worst food offenders there is.
Until the FDA takes action, the ultimate answer is to avoid eating foods that have high-fructose corn syrup hiding in its ingredients list. Here’s a list of items that commonly contain high-fructose corn syrup (and remember its new name can classify it simply as ‘fructose’):
- Soda
- Juice
- Chips and snack bags
- Candy and candy bars
- Breakfast bars
- Baking ingredients and mixes
Meanwhile, numerous companies like Hershey’s have begun moving away from high-fructose corn syrup due to consumer demand.
Renaming it to FRUCTOSE will be the death knell of it. Anyone who is into health food will tell you to avoid FRUCTOSE sugar because of it causing severe health problems and actually makes it easier to identify.
So thanks stupid!
But, those who are into health foods are not interested in that crap……….and don’t usually go looking for information on what they are consuming.

they want to make people ill, the money is there… but considering there is no need for these products to be so toxic, money is unlikely to be the only motivator… look at fluoride in the water, known toxin, consumed under a medical pretence, with the same does in the water of a 15 stone man, a 9 stone pregnant woman, a baby, the elderly… the only reason fluoride is in the water is for it’s effects on humans, except those it claims i.e. tooth health, in fact drinking fluoride is not a way to effect teeth in any way but negatively, it can only add strength used topically.
But even saying it’s the money, that means the governments of the world, allow corporation poison people for money. That is intentional, so even if the goal was not outright to harm people, the corporation are given the “right” to poison people for money, allowed by the people who supposed to work FOR the people of that nation.. our employees get a back hander, funding and support, to poison us, their employers.
They couldn’t come up with a better name than “fructose?” I’ve read a few labels that had “fructose” on them and I immediately knew they meant high-fructose corn syrup. What else?
Well, here is the problem… If I pick up an apple (or any piece of fruit) it contains naturally occurring Fructose, not factory HFCS. By renaming, you will not have any idea if the product uses natural fructose as an additive or if they are using HFCS.

Mexicana cokes use pure cane sugar (they are in the glass bottles). They cost a bit more, but without the effect of HFCS.
really, they use regular sugar in the glass bottles… didn’t know that, so those who are better off, are less likely to get the most HFCS. … same old story hey.

Anything that has any ingredients with the ability to slow kill you should be color coded for easy consumer reference.
That would involve the FDA regulating products, which they don’t. lol
Mercury is in nearly everything, look it up.
But it’s in so low quantities, that it’s not deadly, or even toxic.
Mercury bio-accumulates, that is a little here a little there it stays in your system and reaches toxic levels slowly so you can’t point the finger at this or that.

Just like they state fluoridated water is good for your teeth, which in actuality it isn’t. It’s a neurotoxin and literally reduces your IQ….yet they dump it in our public waters.

When did this happen? The last time I heard they had been overruled, and were not being allowed to rename.
I learned of this many years ago, and completely eliminated high fructose corn syrup from my diet. I just consume products that use sugar. Within a matter of 2 months I lost weight and my hair started growing rapidly. I didn’t expect these results, but was glad i got off that toxic stuff. There are other options for products that do not put HFCS in their products.
The FDA, EPA, USDA are corrupt and do not regulate for safety. What these agencies label as acceptable for human exposure or consumption is appalling. Stop looking for these agencies to set reasonable regulations for toxins.
I’m very allergic to corn in where migraines last for days and even send me to the hospital. When I read the re-naming of corn syrup I want to cry. Who do I sue when I get really sick? Honetly I don’t eat box cereals but …..
