Kellogg’s Issues Recall for Several Popular Snacks

Those with a peanut allergy should be warned that Kellogg’s has now recalled several of their snacks due to undeclared peanut residue. This new recall echoes the recent action taken by Hostess snacks who also recalled a large amount of inventory due to the same issue. This is because the two companies use the same flour supplier, Grain Craft, which has issued a statement that its flour is contaminated in small amounts.

The FDA has stated that the peanut residue in the snacks is low, however it could trigger a serious allergic reaction for those who are very sensitive to peanuts. There have been no reports of illness or death at this time, however the Kellogg company sees this as a precaution to avoid any health issues in the future.

If you have a snack that has been recalled and have an allergy to the nut, the FDA recommends that you discard it. You can phone the company at 1-800-962-1413 for a refund or visit the company’s website at kelloggs.com.
