Portland, one of the last urban American havens of fluoride-free water, is on the road paved with dollar bills to brain development impediment, lowered IQs, thyroid problems, and cancer. In other words, Portland will soon be offering its citizens toxic fluoride in drinking water.
Mayor Sam Adams betrayed his populace—which has repeatedly voted down fluoridation—and joined others in the pockets of the fluoride industry. In defense of his newfound alliance, Mayor Adams claims that he grew up drinking fluoridated water in his hometown of Newport, Oregon—hence his pearly whites.
Fluoride in Drinking Water Hurts the Brain, Causes Cancer
Research by the Cochrane Oral Health Group, in fact, shows that ingesting fluoride does next to nothing for dental health. Meanwhile, a major Harvard study published in a federal government journal found that even at levels as low as 1 ppm (the American standard), fluoride lowers IQ and negatively affects brain development.
Dr. Dean Burk of the Cycochemistry Section at the National Cancer Institute says that, according to his research, fluoride increases tumor growth rates by 25%. Although this research has been ongoing for decades, the U.S. government only recently admitted the chemical’s neurotoxicity to children — they said nothing of adults – and recommended lowered levels across the country. This top scientist found that about 10,000 cancer deaths have occurred due to water fluoridation since 1977.
Communities are attempting to end water fluoridation, mainstream news is acknowledging its negative effects, and even a number of professional dentists have recognized the dangers of fluoride, and spoken out against its use and distribution. So why is Portland adding toxic fluoride in drinking water?
On the five-member City Council, Amanda Fritz and Dan Saltzman oppose fluoridation while Randy Leonard, Nick Fish, and now Sam Adams are in favor for it. No date has been set for the vote on the issue. If you wish to be heard, contact the latter three council members here.

Buy bye Portland :(… Unless you all take action now! Wish I could help! I'm in Virginia where the effects of this toxic waste industrial by-products are deeply set into people's pineal glands. Shutting off the light at the end of the tunnel (vision). Destroying our quality of life maybe forever. I have to go get reverse osmosis water from stores, like a third world country. Oh wait, we are one, and have been for awhile now. Sad..
What I want to know is who in the H*ll is making the country and the world put fluoride in the water?
Who is the evil SOB that is force feeding fluoride to people and damaging our brains and effecting our health negatively? Why are they being allowed to get away with this crime on the people?
This is not "surrender" nor is it a "betrayal". This is enlightened thinking by the City Council. It is the responsibility of a public servant to make decisions that will benefit the health of the population that he or she serves. Randy, Nick and Sam are taking steps to FINALLY protect the health of the citizens who are served by the public water system. Congratulate them for their courage and wisdom. Don't fall prey to the junk science that the anti-fluoride activists use!
I am not sure if this is satire or not, but if it's not then this is officially the most unbelievably brainwashed comment I've ever read.
It is truly sad when the politicains align with the big money, derived from selling this toxic waste fluoride to communities, and ignore the people they are supposed to be representing.
Fluoride is neither a nutrient nor essential for healthy teeth. It is one of the most poisonous substances on Earth. The industrial toxic waste fluoride used (Hexafluorosilicic acid) cures nothing and heals nothing and has never been tested or approved by FDA or any scientist as safe and effective for human ingestion.
Everyone needs to write their officials and stop this immediately. Linked to lower IQ in 28+ studies.
"The situation in Portland is highly distressing and the machinations of three politicians is an insult to the citizens and to the spirit of democracy. What we are seeing here is the outcome of a slick PR campaign and much backroom dealing. It is certainly not the outcome of a dispassionate analysis of the science of fluoridation's effectiveness (or lack of it), its mode of action or the potential dangers it poses. The Harvard review of IQ studies should rule this practice out. Who in their right mind would put a small benefit (if any) to teeth ahead of a possible threat to the mental development of children. It is preposterous. If a threat to the brain is not enough to make these politicians blink then how about the threat to the bone of adults summarized in this short review http://www.fluoridealert.org/articles/arthritis-r… ?. The promoters of this practice certainly have power on their side but they don't have the science. That is why they run a mile when they are challenged to defend this foolish practice in open public debate."
