A question. Does any reader understand how HIIT affects blood flow? I don't mean whether it makes blood flow faster. I mean, does it increase the risk of blood pooling while transitioning between the intense exercise and rest, when blood flow dramatically decreases. This is of more than academic interest to me as I have a patent foramen ovale (a hole in the heart) that may induce paroxsymal blood clotting at the site of the PFO (and consequent risk of stroke). I suspect HIIT could increase the risk of blood clotting due to blood pooling during the aforementioned transition. If anyone has info on this, forward it to me at b.driscoll@live.com
