This suddenly makes me want to think twice about using any brand of toothpaste. It also makes me curious what other teeth-cleaning alternatives there are out there.

Anyone can write a book and provide references with cherry picked data… but to publish a peer reviewed paper in which your hypothesis is clearly shown to hold water.. Well, that is where the true test comes from.

Let's see you provide a paper that says fluoride is harmful at .5-1.0mg/l. I am willing to bet you can't and that you believe everything you read in books that provide 'references' and see in documentaries.

This is what you consider reliable? A study of 32 other studies, 8 of which had to be thrown out for incomplete information, that attempt to digest a result from dozens of different methodologies, more than 2 different sources of different kinds of flouride, children of indeterminate age, IQ's not adjusted for development… The subjects were two different geographical regions (china and iran) and ALL of the studies that this study studied have listed discrepencies, missing information, and points of confounding. This isnt research, this is a digest trying to get people to go out and actually do research.

PS – for 'gisellewilding' – yes, fluoride and aluminium both have physiological roles. They are involved in the physiology of G-proteins, which are essential for intercellular communication in multicellular organisms like us.

Scientists who discovered and investigated G-proteins won Nobel prizes in 1994 and this year.

From an evolutionary standpoint it ought not be surprising that we have incorporated highly reactive elements like F and Al into our physiology.
