I've been taking a half-dosage (4 pills) daily for a few months now. Why a half dose? Because in the summertime I get plenty of sun and the 5000 IU's of vitamin D is too much over and above what my own body generates. Recently I started increasing my dosage and my plan was to take the full dose during the months of December and January. I do like the emphasis on minerals, and I am one of those who try to avoid the controversial magnesium stearate and also try to find supplements derived from whole foods. So up until today I've been pleased with this multi-vitamin.

But I received a shock this afternoon when I was reviewing the ingredients again and discovered sprouted barley juice in the list! I stay clear of gluten with a ten foot pole and would much rather ingest the dreaded magnesium stearate than gluten. I feel almost let down by Mercola – he knows better. Of course it's my own fault and can only blame myself for missing that wee detail earlier. Sadly my stash of Mercola vitamins are going into the bin this afternoon. 🙁

    1. Thank you for pointing that out! I just stumbled across this multivitamin tonight and hadn't noticed the barley either! Have you found a suitable alternative yet? I feel like the only brand I can go with that is gluten, soy and magnesium stearate free is Megafood.

      1. Hi Alice,

        IMPORTANT UPDATE about Mercola's Multi

I JUST realized that Mercola uses mainly synthetic vitamins (in natural forms). according to the customer service, the vitamin c, vitamin e, and the "b vitamins" it's gotta be all of them.

I asked them if they have an evidence that the effectiveness and the function of these synthetic versions is same as of natural source vitamins.

        no reply in 4 months.

p.s. I have bought over 30 of these unknowingly of these important facts based of the misleading presentation in the sales latter stating it is 100% natural vitamins.

sprouted grains and grains are not the same. Before tossing your vitamins, maybe do a little research on weather sprouted barley grass has gluten.

  4. Has anyone noticed their face turning red while taking Mercola's multivitamin?

  5. I have now been taking these vitamins for about 10 months and this was the first year I missed getting everything everyone had but I have also been taking a different vit c, my whole family had gastric flu I took care of them -nothing along with several other different viruses, prior to this I was taking USANA and in the beginning taking 13 pills morning & night felt fantastic but who can afford 250.00 a month so cut back to the Essentials and these alone did little, caught everything going but in all fairness I did have a big operation during this time, so am happy with Mercola vitamins only problem is having to order them from America can take weeks to arrive! I live in Australia
