  1. I have come across many articles highlighting the importance of coconut oil, but have not found ways to use it, except as a moisturizer for skin. Would really appreciate if some one could tell how to use it.

    1. There is a lot of ways to use it! Coconut oil is great for cooking and has so many good benefits. One of them is to help you to reduce cholesterol and also lose weight.

      1. Lee Schelin says:

I belong to two Heart related eGroups with 1500 members each and I'm trying to increase my cholesterol and everyone tells me to use Coconut Oil to do it. Why would anyone want to lower their cholesterol when it's beneficial to our brains?

      2. Yes, my Total Cholesterol dropped 12 pts and my Triglycerides dropped 18 pts in just 2 months of cooking with Coconut oil!!

1 Tablespoonper day, either all at once or in your food.

also gr8 as hair/scalp and skin moisturizer

  3. Look up Bruce Fife, N D. His book Coconut Cures is a wonderful resource and explains the benefits of the oil. I use it for cooking, making my own lip balm with bees wax, for my face and body, eat it for energy and heart health as well as to heal body inflamation. The oil is a liquid at around 78 degrees on your countertop and can be used as a liquid veg oil. If it solidifies warm it slightly. Too many health benefits to name here; however when men found out how to make soy bean and other veg oils, the industry vilified coconut oil for their own benefit and convinced the public coconut oil was unhealthy. Now the truth is told, coconut oil has always been a healthy oil in its organic, pure extra virgin state. Aurveydic medicine has used it for over 4000 years. Eat raw coconut and use coconut milk also—great stuff.

  4. To use orally, swish a t or T in the mouth and hold it as long as possible using the tongue to work it between the teeth and into the gums. Excellent for helping heal infections. Use after flossing teeth. Also used to treat head lice, lightly coat the head and hair with the oil, wrap head and leave on overnight or longer. The oil suffocates the lice, needs to be repeated about twice at make sure the nits are killed as some may "hatch" out.

  5. Brad, you can try 'Oil Pulling' (just google it) with coconut oil or you can make your own 'toothpaste' by combining 2 tbsp. of melted coconut oil with 3 tbsp. of baking soda. Brush your teeth and your tongue with this. Don't spit the oil down your sink as it hardens when cold and can cause blockages. Spit into a paper towel and discard in the dustbin.

    1. PIstol Pete says:

Baking soda and coconut oil are both good for you… don't spit, swallow.

    2. Why not using green or white powdered clay instead of baking soda. Baking soda makes teeth whiter but can be excessively aggressive against enamel. Also you can add xylitol which power raising pH and stabilising flora has been proved.

  6. Coconut oil has been used in many ways for so many years. Try shallow frying potato, sweet potato, carrots, whatever vegetables you like.. yummm this is so good for you and the taste is fantastic. I recently treated my very young pup with coconut oil to improve skin condition. He had a bath with 1 teaspoon added to the water, orally given 1 teaspoon morning and night, even the vet has commented on how fantastic he is looking. Only use organic coconut oil. I myself eat 1/2 teaspoon morning and night use it as my daily moisturizer and feel great for it. Interesting as winter/cool the oil becomes quite firm and summer the oil becomes very liquid. Great stuff.

So how do you apply, just driink it, use it like a mouth wash or what.. some more info would be helpful.

  8. so many health benefits of using Raw unrefined Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. Garden of Life brand is very good as well. It comes in glass jar so no plastic residues.

  9. xreadmore says:

***MISLEADING*** “They found that ENZYME-MODIFIED coconut oil strongly inhibited the growth of most strains of Streptococcus bacteria including Streptococcus mutans – an acid-producing bacterium that is a major cause of tooth decay.” Do not confuse this with regular coconut oil!! Enzyme-Modified meaning “digested” or artificially so.

  10. Jeannie Williams says:

This looks like a great toothpaste do you have any other recipes for coconut?

  11. Louise Marsh says:

I eat a whole table spoon melted slowly, keep oil raw luke warm water, then a lemon mix well, and chugalug xz

  12. Don’t swallow after pulling the oil will have lots of toxins in it. Spit in the trash, not sink.

  13. I was hoping I would find the answer in the comments section
