The threat of radiation is constant and growing; too much radiation from medical testing and other sources is increasingly becoming a concern for many individuals around the world. The average child will receive more than seven radiation emitting scans for medical procedure by age 18, not to mention all of the background radiation emitted from cell phones, as well as other various electronic devices.

With the advent of the TSA body scanners, using deadly terahertz radiation only adds to the controversy. An array of DNA destroying and cancer causing devices pervade our natural lives.

A recent study conducted using THz radiation found that the radiation’s effects on genetic material are so devastating that they can actually destroy it. THz radiation effectively unzips the double helix strands, creating anomalies that would be detrimental to gene expression and replication. The report concludes by saying that TSA scanners are not only a gross invasion of privacy, but are also producing long term effects on human health that ultimately shorten the lifespan of those who are unfortunate enough to be affected by them.

Add this to the constant exposure from cell phones, cell phone towers, and other forms of radiation including x-rays from medical procedures, and you have a mega-radiation dose over time. Radiation is indeed harmful; there’s a reason why doctors leave the room after giving patients undergoing radiation a heavy lead coat.

The pervasive nature of this threat has even prompted the FDA to issue guidelines concerning radiation exposure and safety. This report notes of a proposal to create less dangerous scanners and technology in an attempt to mitigate the damage done, espically to younger individuals.

The fact that they would propose taking action shows that they know the effect of radiation is a real threat and causing damage daily. Taking this into account, you should also be aware of the dangers and necessity to protect yourself and others.

Fluoride still has its place in many municipal water supplies and dental products throughout this country – at least that’s what the CDC thinks. The CDC calls public fluoridation one of the foremost health achievements of the 20th century, and yet fluoride is a deadly substance that has been pushed using propaganda.

The main ingredient in rat poison and many pesticides, fluoride is a known toxic substance. It is documented as being used by Nazis as sarin nerve gas, as well as having the ability to mitigate aggression and dissent in prisoners. Interestingly, fluoride is also the main ingredient in Prozac, producing a similar lobotomizing effect on those who use it.

If this wasn’t enough, fluoride consumption has also been linked to various types of cancer and health defects, even being called the #1 cause of death.

This chemical byproduct was given its place in municipal water supplies in the midst of the 20th century, and has been featured more and more in dental practice as well as home care dental products.

The premise of municipal fluoridation is to diminish tooth decay in populations, but fluoride has been shown to little or no impact on oral health and hygiene.

The propaganda however is strong, assuring unwitting partakers that fluoride is good for their teeth, and some dentists make it a staple of their practice to use fluoride in their procedure as a topical agent, or a supplement. For a long time, fluoride has been given to young children and adults alike, so it’s impossible to know the full extent of the damage done in this regard.

The truth is being realized though, with various townships and cities are actively calling for the removal of fluoride from their water supplies. It’s hard for fluoride propaganda to be effective when it is an obvious façade with numerous holes destroying its credibility.

While fluoride is being removed in some locations, many also have yet to take action. In addition to this, fluoride still lurks in the food supply and many dental products and some medicines like prozac. Be wary of these products, and quick to educate yourself and others on the true nature of such a substance.
While there are many factors that play into the development of cancer, diet and smoking habits make up nearly 60 percent of cancer cases. The good news is that with dietary and lifestyle changes, cancer rates can drop dramatically. One of the easiest ways to protect yourself against cancer is to consume many cancer fighting foods – here are 4 of them you should never forget about.

Cancer Fighting Foods – Turmeric (Curcumin)

Among the most currently researched of cancer fighting foods, turmeric has repeatedly been shown to be an effective cancer-fighter and even block cancer growth. Previously found to reduce tumors by an astounding 81%, the naturally occurring compound found in turmeric, curcumin, exhibits numerous anti-cancer properties. Researchers at UCLA found that curcumin is the component harnessing the ability to actually block cancer growth. Not surprisingly, the cancer-fighting ability that turmeric possesses makes up only a single facet of the many benefits of turmeric.

Papaya Leaf Extract

A study conducted by University of Florida researchers Dr. Nam Dang and colleagues in Japan has documented papaya’s powerful anticancer properties and impact against numerous lab-grown tumors – and without the negative consequences of chemotherapy. The researchers used papaya leaf extract for the study conduction, with the anticancer effects being even stronger with a larger dose of the extract. What’s more, the extract can be taken for a long time without nasty side-effects.

Another study also shows how papaya leaf extract is able to fight various cancers including cervix, breast, liver, lung, and pacreatic while aiding the cardiovascular and gastrointestinal systems.

Ginger

Adding another to the list of cancer fighting foods, ginger, a cousin spice of super anti-cancer substance turmeric, is known for its ability to shrink tumors. The subject of one study based out of Georgia State University, whole ginger extract was revealed to shrink prostate tumor size by 56% in mice. The anti-cancer properties were observed in addition to ginger’s role in reducing inflammation as well as being a rich source of life-enhancing antioxidants. You definitely won’t want to disregard the health benefits of ginger.

Garlic

For centuries, the benefits of garlic have been experienced by many cultures for the treatment and prevention of disease; garlic’s status as one of the cancer fighting foods is perhaps one of the most notorious. Scientists believe that the anti-cancer properties may be due to the production of something known as hydrogen sulfide. Also known to protect the heart, researchers at Albert Einstein College of Medicine found that damage to the heart muscle as a result of heart attack is halted by directly injecting hydrogen sulfide into mice. Researchers believe that the production of hydrogen sulfide is responsible for garlic’s ability to prevent various cancers including, prostate, breast, and colon cancer.

Beating cancer with nutrition is possible, you simply must recognize which foods to consume and which foods not to consume.

Brad Taylor
NaturalSociety
May 13, 2012

Everyone knows that exercise leads to a healthy body, strong muscles, reduced stress, and weight loss. But what many people don’t consider is what happens on an internal level after exercise is complete. The number of techniques or strategies which could be implemented into your workout for greater achievement is endless. Some people think that steady, long, low-intensity workouts provide the best results, but this isn’t true. Jogging is a healthy activity, and walking may even be better, but rigorous exercise has a more profound impact on an effect that occurs in your body following exercise known as excess post-exercise oxygen consumption in order to take care of what’s referred to as oxygen debt.

Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption

EPOC refers to the rate of oxygen consumed in order to return to a homeostasis state and ‘fix’ the body’s oxygen debt. Although a light worker does trigger EPOC, the effect is bound to be more powerful and continue for a longer period of time after a vigorous workout. After performing a low-intensity workout, the body’s demand for oxygen simply isn’t as pertinent.

To attain a higher demand for oxygen and use more oxygen in the process of a workout, a high-intensity, anaerobic exercise should be performed. For every liter of oxygen consumed, approximately 5 calories are burned, making high intensity workouts trigger a greater oxygen debt, EPOC response. Exercising hard enough to cause heavy breathing is the level to aim for.

Oxygen Debt and the Effect of EPOC

In addition to returning to a homeostasis state, the body releases energy at a higher rate. During this time period, the body begins to restore itself.

Replenishing it’s Energy Resources – Your body needs to replenish it’s energy, especially immediate sources of energy. To do this, your body taps into what’s known as the phosphagen system and restores the creatine phosphate and ATP. In addition, lactic acid is being reconverted to glucose, and muscle glycogen levels are being restored during this process.

Re-oxygenating the Blood & Renewing Circulatory Hormones - Energy is expended in order to re-oxygenate the blood for excess oxygen use. In addition, circulatory hormones which become elevated after exercise return to normal levels.

Decrease in Temperature – Energy is expended in an attempt to go back to normal body temperature.

Rebound to Normal Heart Rate – In an attempt to return to a normal heart and breathing rate, the body expends energy at an increased level.

When is oxygen debt mostly experienced?

Research suggests that maximal EPOC response is generated through the following list with 1 being the most effective method and 3 being the least effective method. In terms of EPOC response, the amount of elevation of oxygen consumption and the lasting effects are based on the length and intensity of the workout. Here are ways to ignite higher EPOC response.

Highly intense resistance workouts

Highly intense cardiovascular workouts

Highly intense cardiovascular workouts revolving around interval training

High-intensity interval training, or HIIT, is one intense interval training workout proven to stimulate greater EPOC response.

There are certain aerobic exercises such as cycling that may bring forth a lesser magnitude (amount of increased oxygen consumption) and duration (length of increased oxygen consumption) of EPOC than heavy weight training based on research conducted.

David Dack
NaturalSociety
May 12, 2012

If you’re looking to break through weight loss plateaus, then opting for a glycemic index diet is the way to go. Also known as G.I. diet, this diet is simple and straightforward, no need to count calories or remove entire food groups from your kitchen; all you need is a working knowledge of this diet and a little bit of consistent practice. After that, you can utilize the technique to lose the extra pounds and keep them off for good.

Without further ado, here are some glycemic index diet practical tips and information:

What is the Glycemic Index?

The glycemic index is a tool that helps you measure how the different types of food affect blood sugar levels. Foods are ranked from 1 to 100 on the glycemic index. The higher the ranking, the higher your blood sugar levels will be after consuming such foods. And elevated blood sugar levels are a sign of trouble, leading to mood swings, overeating, weight gain and a myriad of other health troubles such diabetes and obesity.

Therefore, a G.I. diet is based on opting for foods ranking low on the glycemic index and steering clear away from higher ranking food items. With the G.I. nutritional regimentation, expect to lose more weight, have more energy, improve your body to fat ratio, and boost your overall health and well-being levels.

Foods with higher rankings

Any food ranking above 70 on the glycemic index is a deal-breaker. These types of foods are usually full with sugar and chemicals and easily absorbed by the body, thus leading to hunger pangs and overeating.

Examples include white bread, white rice, potatoes, some fruits, watermelon, processed foods or any other food that may raise your blood sugar levels. The more processed the food, the more likely it’ll lead to a blood sugar spike.

Eat Foods with lower rankings

On the other hand, most of the foods ranking below 70 are a good deal. For better weight loss result, opt for food ranking below 55. These types of foods are usually slowly absorbed by the body, thus leading to more balanced blood sugar levels.

Some of the main sources of low-glycemic foods are: vegetables (the more colors, the better), legumes, peanuts, raw apples, peas, lentils, and skim milk.

Implementing a strong nutritional basis for your goals is key, allowing your body to perform to it’s optimum potential. The problem? Many people do not have the knowledge to build an effective yet healthful diet, ensuring that their goals are met and retained. There are many diets out there that warp your metabolism and destroy your body, resulting in a few pounds lost at the cost of your body’s ability to burn more fat in the future. Only after discovering nutrition basics will you experience being healthy while keeping the results.

How to be Healthy: Counting Calories

It is understood that calories will determine whether or not your body has “excess” based upon your metabolic maintenance level, but where the calories are coming from is of utmost importance. 2500 calories from brownies and cupcakes is far different than 2500 calories from a variety of healthful food sources. Plenty of extremely lean individuals never count calories, and they never have to. What’s more important for being healthy is eating the right foods – quality over quantity.

Instead of setting your fixed amount of calories at 2500 and eating whatever you want until that point, most likely not getting enough nutrients in the process, simply eat the right foods. Try and be creative with your diet, tampering with different combinations of great foods. In order to start your new way of eating off the right way, start purchasing and cooking by these guidelines:

Nutrition Basics | Simple Ways to be Healthy

Eat preferably organic – I understand some people can not afford to purchase all organic food, but even consuming just some organic food will help you in being healthy thanks to the added health benefits. While there has been a large-scale proliferation of pseudo nutritional science on the matter, such as the press claiming it’s essentially the same as non-organic food, the studies clearly show eating organic is much healthier than conventional. If it is truly 100% organic then it will not contain harmful ingredients like mercury-containing high fructose corn syrup, or be genetically engineered (GMO). In this day and age, eating organic is one of the first nutrition basics.

Take a multivitamin or wholefood supplement: Since soil is lacking nutrients from modern-day farming practices, foods are undergoing a major depletion of vitamins and minerals. It requires almost 5x as much food today to receive the same nutrition received a few decades ago. Thankfully, multivitamins and whole food supplements are great boosts for being healthy and maintaining daily vitamin requirements. Unfortunately, the recommended daily value as directed by the medical establishment is created with a focus of what one needs minimally simply to survive. A multivitamin or whole food supplement that contains high amounts of the natural forms of the vitamins, instead of synthetic vitamins (made in a lab), are also higher quality.

Diversify your intake - Just like working out, your body responds to change. Varying food intake is one of many ways to be healthy. If your daily intake consists of mainly carbohydrates and you’re not getting the results you’d like, try consuming more protein, or healthful fats. When advising someone on sculpting their diet, it’s always an important factor for me to find out what works for them, because what works for one person may not work for another.

Avoid toxic additives – Another principle resting with the other nutrition basics, avoid food additives such as monosodium glutamate and aspartame, which have been linked to weight gain, brain damage, kidney problems, and increased cancer rates. Even more dangerous is the fact that a lot of food today is genetically modified (GMO food). GMO food could very well be tampering with the very genetic coding of our bodies. Avoiding these toxic additives is extremely important when it comes to being healthy. Buy organic and read labels to avoid these toxic additives.

Being Healthy Automatically | When to eat, when to stop eating, and what to eat

Your body has an amazing way of telling you when you’re done eating. In fact, knowing when you’re supposed to stop eating is one of the many ways to be healthy which has been used for thousands of years. The trick is to eat slowly, around 20 or so minutes per meal, and your body will tell you when you’re full. Be sure to distinguish whether or not you’re hungry, or you just want something that tastes good. If you’re craving sugar all the time, there could be a nutritional deficiency present. Listening to your body is part of the nutrition basics as well as any other ‘basics’ of life.

Just as your body can tell you when to stop eating, it can also tell you when to eat and what to eat. Of course, you eat when you’re hungry, but the key is to break your meals up into 4-6 meals a day. When you eat 4-6 small meals a day, instead of 3 large ones, you allow your metabolism to properly process the food it is given. Seeing how your body responds to certain foods is the easiest way to find out whether or it is approving what you eat. Listen to your body, and experiment with a bunch of different foods.

Change Your Life, Not Your Diet

This is not a diet, this is a significant change in your life for the better. Being healthy is not a difficult place to reach, but in order to feel better, look better, and think clearer, you need a strong nutritional base. If beginning your quest to be healthy starting from the ground up, it will be an enjoyable process to change your life for the better with food. Stop counting calories and hopping on the latest fad diets, and make a real change through implementing these techniques into your daily life. While there are nutrition basics to know, you should learn how the way think is the cornerstone of reaching your health goals.

A Powerful Antioxidant Able to Slow the Aging Process" width="235" height="142" />What is Astaxanthin? Commonly found in the colored shells and outer carapace of many bottom dwelling sea creatures, astaxanthin is a very powerful yet relatively unknown antioxidant – but who would think that a crab shell has one of the best antioxidants around? The body needs all forms of antioxidants, and this specific form is particularly beneficial to people. Atoms known as free radicals, essentially rogue molecules, cause damage and hastened aging, but antioxidants like astaxanthin are at the center of the battle within of your body to combat the effects of aging.

What is Astaxanthin? The Power of Antioxidants

Able to reverse the aging process dramatically, antioxidants have been long praised as beneficial for human skin. Antioxidants function only in the event that there are the opposite and detrimental molecules around them – oxidants – chemically binding to them and literally neutralizing them, protecting other cell growths from potential harm from the oxidizers. Oxidation occurs when oxidizing agents produce free radicals, causing microscopic chain reactions within the many systems of the body. If oxidized cells run rampant, or if there are a lack of antioxidants present in the system, the person may become distressed more easily. There will also be the inherent disruption of the growth of new cells. Though antioxidants are proven beneficial across the board, it is important to know that oxidization is a very important part of our biology.

The many health benefits of antioxidants like astaxanthin can be reaped effectively over a period of a few weeks. A boost in eyesight is immediately noticeable; the potency of this antioxidant should essentially cancel out the effects of ultra-violet radiation that may be entering your eyes. Over time you should notice that your skin is smoother and healthier – one of the main reasons why antioxidants are considered age-reversing.

Internally, your brain will feel the effects as well; regeneration of brain cells will help to stem the onset of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. On the microscopic level, the DNA will also benefit from the seemingly regenerative properties of antioxidants. Cancer will be that much less of an issue to be concerned with under the protective, preventative medicine of astaxanthin and other antioxidants like it as well. What’s more, the arteries and veins at risk of being clogged by cholesterol will no longer be an issue; antioxidants reduce the cholesterol levels in the blood, substantially cutting the risk of arterial blockage, and hence reducing risk of heart disease or a heart attack.

So, what is astaxanthin? The list of benefits associated with astaxanthin and antioxidants goes on for quite a bit, with many of the benefits immediately noticeable from astaxanthin. So if you or someone you know is at a heightened risk for any of the aforementioned health complications, it may be beneficial to consider astaxanthin as a primary source of antioxidants.

Using non-stick cookware sure makes cooking easier and more convenient, but is the average person aware of the harm revolving around this cookware? Unlike iron or ceramic pots and pans, this type of cooking vesicle can transmit a toxic chemical through the air that you breathe in. Before continuing to use non-stick cookware, be aware of the many non-stick cookware dangers.

Chemical Compounds: PFOS, PFOA, and PTFE

Most notable of the non-stick cookware dangers, chemical compounds known as perfluorinated compounds are emitted from using this cookware. Once the compounds become heated, they are considered to be a potentially deadly vapor gas if taken in too quickly. Perfluorinated compounds are amongst many non stick surfaces, as well as in popcorn packaging, french fry boxing, candy bar wrappers as well as other various food items. It is best to stay away from anything that may contain perfluorinated compounds in them.

Along with PFOAs, another toxic chemical known as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) are actually capable of killing birds. The chemical responsible for the biological damage, which has been shown to cause many problems in animals, has been found in the bloodstream of 95 percent of Americans.

Low Birth Weight in Infants

To add to the non-stick cookware dangers, a direct correlation between PFOA and low birth-weight has been found, affecting newborns around the globe. The full effects of C8 (further abbreviated name of PFOA) exposure went under study, under the lead of a Dr. Goldman of John Hopkins University. Though the results came to be conclusive about the low birth weight and other deformations found in infant children, the Teflon chemical still persists as the prime ingredient in non-stick surfaces.

Thyroid disease, oxidization of DNA in organs

The teflon compound, when released into the air around you and integrated into the bloodstream through ingestion, can pose a serious risk for thyroid damage while also negatively impacting DNA. The results from a study taken in Tokyo have found that these chemicals are at the very least carcinogenic, if not potentially more deadly on a larger timescale. Obviously people that have been using conventional products like candy wrappers and popcorn bags for the past century are at a greater risk for toxic exposure, but it should not be overlooked as something minor by any means.

So while non-stick cookware is convenient, is it really worth exposing yourself to the many non-stick cookware dangers? As a precaution, you may want to put aside the non-stick cooking ‘essentials’ and use something tried and true as a method for cooking their foods, just as a precaution and to hopefully enrich their lives further.
Mainstream medical practices for cancer treatment have been shown to be both dangerous and ineffective, lending further merit to the phrase “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. While medical professionals are being educated in the field of medicinal treatment revolving around pharmaceuticals, many foods are repeatedly being recognized as powerful cancer-fighters and overall health-enhancers. Who would have thought that nutrition and eating habits could help to maintain your health?

Beating Cancer with Nutrition – Turmeric Slows Spread of Breast Cancer

Showcasing just one of the countless ways you can begin beating cancer with nutrition, research has shown that turmeric can slow down the spread of breast cancer. Studies out of the University of California, San Diego, published in the British Journal, NATURE, have previously discovered a molecule known as RANKL. This molecule is found in aggressive breast cancer cells, which predict more life threatening disease. Aggressive cancer cells predict that the breast cancer will spread throughout the body, putting the body in a state of metatasis. Breast cancer patients often pass after cancer has metastasized to other body parts, ruining the functioning of vital organs such as the liver, lungs or brain. Interestingly enough, cancer drugs have been shown to ‘metasize’ tumors in some research.

The findings suggest that if RANKL molecules were blocked, then early stages of breast cancer could be prevented, while advanced progression of the disease and metastasis could be halted. Curcumin has been found to possess properties that reduce the expression of these deadly molecules within cancer cells, and can potentially slow the spread of breast cancer.

Of course this isn’t the only time turmeric and curcumin have been shown to battle and prevent cancer. Researchers at UCLA found that curcumin — a natural phenol and primary compound of turmeric — exhibits cancer-blocking properties powerful enough to block cancer growth. In addition, curcumin has previously been found to reduce tumors by 81% in more than 9 studies, which also gives credence to the natural anti-cancer health benefits of turmeric and curcumin intake.

While many foods are powerful health enhancers, curcumin alone is known to positively impact over 560 diseases according to peer-reviewed research. Beating cancer with nutrition means to acquire the knowledge of how the foods people eat every day can be utilized to treat or prevent illness and disease. While the advancements humanity has made throughout history are great, mainstream medicine has been going down a dark road. It is time to shift from a pharmaceutical-dependent state to nutrition-based prevention and treatment.

To receive the absolute most benefit from your upcoming goal-driven life changes, you have to want to go through the process of change. That is to say, you should aim for achieving your weight loss goals with a positive, determined mindset.

Don’t Let Your Weight Loss Goals Consume You

Losing weight does not have to be about suffering, and shouldn’t be. Once you have made the firm decision to lose weight, follow through with that decision with a sense of knowingness that you will achieve your goal, and enjoy the activities needed to reach your goals. With this mindset, the actions you do to achieve your weight loss goals will be enjoyable, and the best part is that you know there will be a great reward.

It is true that the way you think really is the cornerstone of reaching your health and weight loss goals. The mind is a powerful tool, where science has even begun to recognize that your thoughts are powerful determining factors in your overall health, and that your mindset can ultimately create — or delay — self-healing. Similarly, the way you think during your weight loss journey has everything to do with your happiness levels, whether you’ll achieve your goal, and whether you will sustain your achieved goal. Creating and pursuing weight loss goals isn’t only about achieving a better body; hopefully during this journey a change in thinking and lifestyle will also occur, and ultimately your overall health will boost.

While losing weight could be extremely helpful for enhancing your health and transforming appearance, the process won’t have a complete positive effect if implemented along with extremely high stress levels. Attaining a great body and great health is not about trading one thing for another; stress is not a necessary ingredient in reaching your weight loss goals. If you’re experiencing a great deal of mental stress while making the necessary lifestyle changes, view the stress as an indication that thinking needs to change.

Don’t let your weight loss goals consume you. Here’s 3 essential keys for success for any life goal.
